Tom Dykhuizen presents messages of hope, laced with humor, for those facing the challenge of life. He centers his sermons on Jesus as revealed in the scriptures. His favorite Bible story is the Prodigal Son because of its emphasis on grace.
He is a survivor of lung and colon cancer. In his struggle, he’s felt the presence of God, even during the long, dark nights, as family and friends lifted him up in prayer. During his recovery, Tom climbed the largest active volcano in continental Europe.
Ultimately, Tom has learned that while we can’t always explain what happens to us, we can know that God is here, we are loved, and life is beautiful. And that is enough to get us moving again.
Along with being the pastor of the Emmanuel congregation, Tom is currently the Director of Media for the Presbytery of Los Ranchos. A graduate of Harvard University, he received two fellowships to study at universities in England. He attended Fuller Seminary where he received the annual Preaching Award.
He loves movies and is an avid LA Clippers fan whose games he often attends with his son, Tyler.
